SOS: The Sunday Open Series

Poetry and spoken word have been an important part of ABC No Rio since its inception. Our Sunday afternoon open poetry readings have become an institution and attract a dedicated and loyal cadre of poets and poetry lovers.

SOS: The Sunday Open Series is known for its welcoming, open, and spontaneous vibe, and for the absence of stiff, formal trappings. No sign-up, no time limit, no b.s.

The No Rio poets also publish Stained Sheets, a broadsheet used to promote the Sunday event and our reading series; it features work by participating writers.

Six nights yearly we present the ABC No Rio Reading Series: Celebrating Area Presses & venues, in which we collaborate with other local literary projects and feature local poets and writers.
