Poetry and spoken word have been an important part of ABC No Rio since its inception. Our Sunday afternoon open poetry readings became an institution and attracted a dedicated and loyal cadre of poets and poetry lovers. Open readings at ABC No Rio were known for their welcoming and spontaneous vibe, and for the absence of stiff, formal trappings: no sign-up, no time limit, no b.s.

Regular on-going literary programming will resume after construction of our new facility.

We anticipate ad hoc readings and other literary events as part of "ABC No Rio in Exile," our programming during the construction period.
